Placement at Askham Bryan College
Painter Neil Morley’s placement was concerned with developing intersecting dialogues between art, science and the landscapes in the Yorkshire area. He worked with the Sheffield-based scientist Dr Wayne Martindale and also with the Askham Bryan College.
“I believe that having the time to develop my ideas has given me a stronger ability to self-evaluate concepts that perhaps would have reached a dead end, or were a diversion from the main core ideas and therefore could be discarded,” said Neil.
“The major benefit for me has been working with a scientist on these issues and having the access to informed debate about the changing nature of science. My work has been influenced considerably by this access and has created new directions that may never have arisen without it."
